Wild mountain ridges rise up in the Silvretta region on the border between Switzerland and Austria. We took this dramatic photo during a ski tour to the Madlenerspitze (2969 m). The Silvretta region is a popular ski touring area in winter/spring. The Bielerhöhe (2071 m) is also easy to reach in winter thanks to the cable car and bus, which runs through tunnels dating back to the construction of the dams in the region. Even in winters with little snow, this is an altitude where there is always enough snow for ski tours.
